Maintenance Process of TBM Cutting Tools

As the most effective large-scale comprehensive machine for tunnel construction, TBM tunnel boring machine uses the TBM cutter head to directly contact the face of the tunnel for rock breaking. Therefore, the use and maintenance of the tbm cutter installed on the tbm cutter head directly affect the process of tunnel construction.


At the same time, the consumption of TBM cutting tools is also one of the items that account for the largest proportion of TBM construction costs. It is necessary to maintain the reliability of TBM cutting tools to improve the driving speed and reduce consumption to reduce the driving cost.


Ⅰ. The purpose of TBM cutting tool inspection and maintenance

After the TBM cutting tool has been inspected and repaired, there will be no faults caused by improper maintenance during the tunneling process after installation, resulting in downtime for replacement.


From a statistical point of view, the proportion of maintenance TBM cutting tools should not exceed 5% to reduce the impact on TBM utilization and driving speed.


1. Through the inspection and maintenance of the TBM cutting tool, analyze the production quality of the TBM cutting tool and its parts, the quality of the early maintenance, the problems in the installation of the TBM cutting tool, the geological changes and the influence of the TBM operation on the damage of the TBM cutting tool, and put forward the analysis in time and feedback.


2. In the maintenance of TBM cutters, the parts of TBM cutter disc should not be replaced blindly, and the damaged parts should be repaired. It is necessary to ensure the quality of the repaired TBM cutters, and to strictly control the scrapping conditions of parts, so as to make the best use of everything and save costs.


Ⅱ. Cleaning and inspection of TBM cutting tools before maintenance

The TBM cutting tools replaced from the TBM cutter head should be cleaned in time to remove the sticky slag on the surface, especially the sticky slag in the hexagon wrench hole of the TBM cutting tool and the ash in the sliding seal cavity.


After the cleaning is completed, check the following items, and the results are recorded in the "TBM cutting tool maintenance inspection" table:


1. Check the TBM cutting tool number, and register it according to the TBM cutting tool number. If it is not clear, make up after confirmation.


2. Check the surface of the TBM cutter for oil leakage, eccentric wear of the cutter ring, loose or missing end cap bolts, missing and broken retaining rings, damage to M24 screw holes, and broken bolts.


3. Check the wear amount of the TBM cutter disc ring, measure it with a special TBM cutting tool caliper, and measure the maximum and minimum values of the inclined wear cutter ring.


4. Check whether the torque and rotation of the TBM cutter disc bearing are uniform. Before checking the torque of the TBM cutter disc, be sure to clean the muck in the sealing cavity with high-pressure air, and check the torque should be rotated more than 360 degrees.  If there is vibration in hand, the rotation is not uniform.
